Still in existence...

I have taken a short break from blogging, but hope to be back up and running soon. I have things to blog about, but can't seem to find the time. Lots of new and exciting things have happened this year and we are still only in January. The main reason that I have had little time to blog is that I started a new hobby with some friends. We are currently training to run a 5k in March and are doing so well. We are more than halfway there. We decided to use the Couch to 5k Program and will be ready for week 5, day 3 (2 miles with no break) this Thursday. Even though the program only requires us to run 3 times a week, we have noticed that we actually enjoy running and end up running at least one additional day each week. On our off days we have been incorporating some cardio/muscle toning workout videos, which actually help out with our running.

If you have read my recent blogs, you will notice that this is not my first time trying out a new workout program (Work It Out and The Challenge). It is embarrassing to admit that often times I fail at workout programs and that is probably why I am already into my new program 5 weeks before blogging about it. This is probably the longest I have made it consistently through a program and here are a few reasons why I have been able to be successful:
  • The program is designed for beginner runners.
  • I have support and accountability from friends, family, and even with my Pastor who checks in with me each Sunday.
  • I am running with friends instead of running alone.
  • I created a reachable goal to be met in a specific time frame.
  • I have this incredible feeling of accomplishment every time I finish a week or even a day.

These are some great outcomes of the program:

  • I get to spend time with friends while working out.
  • I now have more energy throughout the day.
  • I am now motivated to accomplish other things in my life.
  • Running is a way to take care of my body.
  • Running inspires me to have healthier eating habits.
  • I am actually enjoying running.
  • I have found a new confidence in who I am and what I can do.
