A few months ago, Eric and I bought some picture frames for our travel wall from IKEA. We were so excited about the price and that we could get matching frames in different sizes that we neglected to read what size pictures the frames would hold. It wasn't until we got home that we discovered that the matting for the frames was not cut to hold standard sized photos, but we were determined to use these frames. We have been wanting to incorporate the color purple in our downstairs hallway because the downstairs guest room and bathroom are decorated in a pale beige and bold purple. We decided that we were going to have to double matte the pictures so that we could order the pictures standard size. Not only were we able to use the frames but we figured a way to incorporate the purple. I used cardstock from my scrapbooking supplies and painted it with the actual paint we used to paint the rooms and then adhered the picture on top.
The finished project from one angle. Please disregard the blue tape. If you walk through our house right now you will see it everywhere. After we paint walls, we use the next few days to mark spots that we missed with blue tape so that we can touch up on those spots all at one time.
A different angle of our travel wall. There is plenty of space left to add more pictures as we travel to new places.
This is called a cricut... it is a scrapbooker's saving grace when it comes to titles and embellishments. I used the cricut to cut out the letters used to describe the location for each travel picture. The first picture shows the lettering in greater detail. It is these fun, busy, little projects that keep me busy while Eric does the real tough stuff.... painting the walls.
I am so in love with your travel wall! What an amazing idea! Makes me want to go someplace!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Sara! I just love IKEA frames. And wow, that cricut is one hunk of machinery! You scrapbookers mean business!
ReplyDeleteThat wall looks so amazing! I recognized the George font immediately! You are so creative I can't even believe it.
