Yosemite

Eric and I have been working so hard this summer on projects around the house that we decided we needed to take a day off and get out of town. We decided to go hiking in Yosemite and it turned out to be the perfect day for hiking because the weather was absolutely beautiful.

This picture was taken right before we started off on the trail to the top of Vernal Falls.

We found a nice couple on the way up that took a picture of Eric and me.

We made it to the bridge after climbing continuously uphill. My legs were already burning at this point.

The view of the falls from the bridge.

After hiking uphill a little more, we came to steps portion of the hike. There were literally 600 steep steps to climb to make it to the top.

Eric was able to capture the rainbow in the waterfall.

This is what the waterfall looks like at the edge of the top. There were some crazy people that jumped over the fence and were taking pictures from the rock at the edge of the waterfall. If they would have slipped, they would have gotten a whole new view of the waterfall.

The view of the trail from the top of the waterfall.

I am pointing to the trail we mastered. We plan on going back sometime next month to try another trail.

I love taking trips like this. How can you question the existence of God when you are surrounded by so much of His beauty. I am so thankful that we took this day away from our busy schedules to spend uninterrupted time with each other.

  1. Oh, I LOVE Yosemite! It looked like a beautiful day and a really nice hike. Vernal Falls is scary when the steps are slick with water! Glad you made it back alive. he he. You guys really got your workout in.

Jeff has hiked half dome (over the side, not up the face) twice and both times I just sat at home and prayed and wrung my hands. You guys aren't planning on doing that, are you? If so, I'll invite your mom over and we can both pray and wring our hands all day long til you get home.

  2. We do plan on hiking to the top of half dome. I don't know the difference yet between face up or over the side, but we will do which ever is easiest. We will have to get some tips from Jeff before we try it.
