A couple of weeks ago, we decided to invite some friends over for Superbowl Sunday to watch the game. Since the moment we made the decision, I have been googling, blog hopping, and frantically searching cookbooks for the perfect goodies to serve. I wanted to try something new, but I didn't want to get too daring because everyone knows that is isn't the game that makes a great Superbowl, but it is the food. For my first Superbowl blog entry, I would like to share with you my new aram sandwich recipe. I am not going to provide my typical list of ingredients because you can really put anything inside the sandwich that sounds good to you.
Armenian Cracker Bread (Lavosh)
You can buy this amazing bread in the deli section of your grocery store. I bought mine at Save Mart and it cost $2 per sheet. It will come to you a little frozen, but by the time you get home, it will be thawed out and ready. I chose to use parchment paper as my surface.
Spread cream cheese over the entire sheet of Armenian cracker bread. I chose a regular light cream cheese, but I suspect that a flavored cream cheese could be very yummy.
Add whatever ingredients you would like in the middle of the bread. I chose to keep it simple and include spinach, turkey, and jack cheese.

Well, that looks simple enough. I guess I've never seen Armenian cracker bread at a store. I suppose if I were to get out more often I'd discover all sorts of amazing things!
ReplyDeleteI also use "Hye Rollers" which is large round cracker bread. They come 3 to a package and you can ask for them at the Deli at Raley's. I also layer 2/3 of my bread with the spinach and other toppings. Makes a fuller sandwich. One of my favs! :)
ReplyDeleteThese were soooooo gooooood! The kids (and myself) scarfed them down. And now I know I can make them myself! Thanks!
