A Few of my Favorite Things... for Fall

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. Brown paper packages tied up with strings. These are a few of my favorite things.

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels. Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles. Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings. These are a few of my favorite things.

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes. Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes. Silver white winters that melt into springs. These are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites. When the bee stings. When I'm feeling sad. I simply remember my favorite things and then I don't feel so bad.

Today I have been feeling a little blah. I know... such a sophisticated word to include in a blog, but that describes exactly how I feel. Do you ever notice how much easier it is to focus on the dog bites and the bee stings? Well I am going to take the advice of Julie Andrews and think of some of my favorite things of Fall.

Fall Clothing

Scarves are the ultimate accessory for the fall season. It isn't time quite yet to pull out the jacket but when paired with a long sleeved shirt, scarves just add a little extra flavor to an ensemble.

The first thing I do when I get home from work is change into a pair of lounge pants. They aren't quite pajamas so you can get away with a quick store run, walking the dog, or watching movies with friends.

I have a tradition of getting a new pair of pajama pants from Old Navy every year. Last year I bought my pair from the Old Navy store in Frisco on a special girls trip the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Food & Beverages

During the summer months, I usually stick to the frappuccinos from Starbucks but once when October hits, I am all about the hot drinks. I enjoy nothing more than a hot coffee and a good book.

These two items go hand in hand. I love dipping grilled cheese sandwiches into my tomato soup. I love the lunch dates with my mom when we enjoy this special treat.

Other Fall Obsessions

I have very fond memories of leaves as a child. It was always a big thing for my family to rake up the leaves into the biggest pile possible for the sole purpose of jumping in the pile and scattering the leaves everywhere. I remember one fall when my mom drove us to MJC west campus and we brought home garbage bags full of leaves to jump in.

I love pumpkins! My favorites are the mini ones that you can put all over the house for fall decoration. Carving pumpkins is fun, but for some reason I just like pumpkins in their natural state.

Scary Movies
During October I really enjoy watching scary movies. I don't watch the ones that have a lot of blood and gore. I just like watching these movies in the dark and with a blanket to help cover my eyes during the scary parts. Some of my favorite movies are below.

Please share some of your favorite things about fall in the comments section.

  1. A FEW OF MY FAVORITE FALL THINGS....
    *everything pumpkin
    *leaves of all colors
*leaves that crunch as you walk on them
*hot tea and something...make that ANYthing...baked with pumpkin: pie, muffins, scones, bread.
    *grandsons and leaves
*cool windy days (it could even rain) with a good book snuggled under a warm blanket
    *sweaters
    *family Thanksgiving celebrations
*tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches with my daughter
Perhaps I should stop now. Fall itself is one of my favorite things and I could go on and on!

  2. Hi you. I get blah too. Good for you for focusing on the things you love.

I too love winter clothes, hot drinks and uncarved pumpkins. I love when it's rainy and/or windy outside and we're inside watching movies in our pajamas or playing games or doing crafts. So cozy!

The last 4 movies you listed are some of my favorites in the spooky genre! I don't like anything that's "real" scary. Only "fake" scary. If that makes any sense.

    Hugs to you. :o)
