Snickerdoodle Part 2

Recently, I tried out a new cookie recipe from Martha Stewart. Since I had never made snickerdoodle cookies before and they are one of my husbands favorite kinds of cookies, I thought this would be a good recipe to try. Do you ever notice yourself sticking to a theme with baking? I guess I have been on a snickerdoodle kick because this is my second recipe within a week. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. I recommend this recipe if you don't already have one. I rate this recipe as a close second to my mother-in-law's recipe.

Ingredients:
-1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 Tablespoons cinnamon

Ingredients in a nutshell.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a larger bowl, cream butter, shortening, and sugar with a mixer on medium for about 2 minutes.

It doesn't mix well at first, but...

when it is done, it will look like mashed potatoes.

Add egg and mix until combined.

Add flour mixture and beat until combined.

In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon.

Roll dough into miniature balls.

Then roll the dough balls in the cinnamon/sugar mixture until coated.

Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cookies begin to crack. Remove and let cool on a wire rack.

These cookies remind of sand dollars at the beach. If you are ever having a beach-themed party, consider making snickerdoodle cookies.

Bon Appetit!

  1. You may think that if you've had one snickerdoodle you've had them all, but I find this is not true! This recipe is the best I've had...or...you just have the perfect touch. I loved the way they melted in my mouth.
